Our Mission

Many organizations are on missions of spreading kindness, however, we believe what really sets us apart is the active engagement of the local community from the beginning to the end of a surprise gifting!

Community members are able to nominate a deserving local small business worker by sharing their story, and then get to see the entire surprise giving play out either in person on video.

Thanks to the heartwarming videos and power of social media we have been able to create an exciting outlet to spread joy that surprises deserving individuals with a little kindness and recognition by the community.

Hi! I’m Brittany Joy Scharr

Where it All Began

Having worked in the restaurant industry myself for 10 years until early 2019 - I have a special place in my heart for food service members and I firmly believe that all of those years in the restaurant helped shape me into the person that I am today. The restaurant I worked in for 10 years became a second home to me, my co-workers became family and the guests became friends.

An unfortunate closing of the location I worked at led me to pursue a different path just a few weeks prior to the shutdowns caused by the pandemic. While I had moved on to pursue other avenues outside of the restaurant industry, many of my closest friends had not and when I heard that there would be a second wave of shutdowns on indoor dining just before Christmas in December of 2020 my heart broke for those friends that I knew relied on those shifts to make money to survive.

Spirit of Giving Back

I wanted to come up with a small way to give back to the industry that shaped me and realized that other people did too as I browsed local Facebook groups. I came up with the idea to surprise 12 service industry staff members with $100 cash on the 12 days leading up to Christmas - knowing that would mean fundraising $1200.00 I made the donation of $200.00 and began posting about the initiative on social media platforms.

After just one day I was blown away to see that $500.00 had been raised! I was receiving nominations of local servers and bartenders that the community wanted to see gifted left and right. In an effort to be totally transparent and share with the community exactly where their donations were going I decided to film the surprise giftings to later post them with exactly where and who we gifted. The response to the first night of heartwarming surprise giftings was immense and over the next week thousands of dollars was donated to the gofundme. Instead of gifting just one person a day for the remaining 12 days I had to up the giftings to five and then ten people a day!!

The Bigger Vision

After the original 12 days the donations continued to roll in with the extension of the ban on indoor dining and I knew that since I had created an outlet for kindness as long as people wanted to continue to give I would continue to gift! Word of the surprise giftings continued to spread with local and national news stations picking up the story.

With so much recognition gained for the original mission I knew that we really had something here and with continued local community interest to begin gifting again in December of 2021 - an entire organization to spread joy was born!
